Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Mercan Greece is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across its hospitality, corporate, commercial and investment operations. The role works closely with management and external advisors, focusing on contracts, risk management, regulatory compliance and cross‑border transactions, including Golden Visa activities where applicable.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial and hospitality matters, beyond real‑estate transactions.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements such as service, management, supplier, partnership and investment contracts.
• Identify legal risks, advise management on mitigation strategies and support overall risk management.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, licensing, GDPR/data protection and internal policies.
• Structure and support domestic and cross‑border investment operations, joint ventures and group‑level initiatives.
• Oversee legal aspects of Golden Visa and residency‑by‑investment programmes, ensuring Greek and EU legislative compliance.
• Liaise with external law firms, notaries, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders in Greece and abroad.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of post‑qualification legal experience, strong background in corporate and commercial law.
• Law degree from a recognized university and admission to the Greek Bar.
• Experience in multinational environments handling cross‑border or group‑level legal matters.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills in Greek and English.
• Strong understanding of Greek and EU regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to liaise with public authorities, regulators and external advisors.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and support business decision‑making.
