Senior Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

Renesas Electronics is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the Embedded Software Platform team in Athens, Greece, within its Embedded Processing group. You will design, develop and own the quality of the platform software (drivers, middleware and RTOS) that runs on Renesas devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded platform software, including low-level drivers, middleware and RTOS integration
• Own the quality of delivered software, from design review through verification
• Write, test and document embedded software
• Plan and schedule your own tasks, contribute to team-level software planning and report progress to the project lead
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and provide technical supervision of their work

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience in consumer electronics, automotive, medical or a similar domain
• Strong C programming skills and a track record of software for deeply embedded, resource-constrained platforms
• Hands-on experience with 8/16/32-bit MCU architectures, including ARM Cortex-M
• Full competence across the software engineering lifecycle, including verification and testing against specifications and requirements
• Ability to prioritize, set goals and meet deadlines, with strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills

Required skills

• Debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, multimeters and JTAG/SWD debuggers
• Modern development methodologies (Agile, CI, test automation) and version control (Git, SVN, Bitbucket, GitHub)
• Nice to have: MCAL development, AUTOSAR System Services, safety-certified RTOS kernels (SafeRTOS, AUTOSAR OS), ISO 26262 / ASIL B-D development, ASPICE, MISRA C and static analysis, AI-assisted development
