Senior Embedded Engineer - Protocol Development

About the role

Renesas Electronics is looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer focused on protocol development, based in Kallithea, Athens. The position is product-oriented and centres on designing, developing and testing embedded software to support the Bluetooth stack, giving Renesas a competitive edge in the IC market. The work follows the BTIP project vision and roadmap in close collaboration with the software architects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test embedded software for the Bluetooth stack, following the BTIP project vision and roadmap.
• Own the quality of the software delivered.
• Write, test and document embedded software.
• Schedule own tasks, take part in software planning and report progress to the project leader.
• Mentor, coach and supervise more junior team members.
• Convey the needs of the teams and stakeholders within the system architecture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with about 6 years of deep embedded software experience, or academic level with 4 years of experience.
• Fully competent in software engineering, coding and testing.
• Ability to prioritise work, set goals and meet deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication and human relations skills.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C programming and experience with software on deeply embedded platforms.
• Knowledge of software and hardware systems.
• Software development methodologies (Agile, software testing) and version control (Git, SVN).
• Verification and testing of deliverables against specifications and requirements.
• Experience with embedded debugging tools and programming in resource-constrained environments.
• Desirable: proven Bluetooth stack development, ARM Cortex-M software development, and multi-disciplinary digital hardware and embedded software experience.
