Senior Banking Lawyer – Counsel Level – Athens

About the role

Our client is a top‑tier commercial law firm in Athens. They are seeking a high‑calibre Banking & Finance lawyer at Counsel level to lead a major mandate for a premier client, focusing on acquiring and servicing loan portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex transactions for loan portfolio acquisitions.
• Advise on legal frameworks governing ongoing servicing and management of loans.
• Act as the primary relationship contact for a leading institutional client.
• Mentor junior associates and manage deal teams to ensure seamless transaction delivery.
• Navigate Greek and EU banking regulations, central bank guidelines, and servicing laws.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience in a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Proven track record in banking and finance law with loan portfolios (NPLs/SPLs) and securitisations.
• Qualified lawyer admitted to the Greek Bar Association.
• Native Greek and professionally fluent English (written and spoken).
