Data Software Engineer

About the role

EveryPay, a regulated financial services institution and payments company owned by the Skroutz Group, is expanding its Data Platform team and looking for a Data Software Engineer. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, backend services and platform operations: you will build data pipelines and infrastructure, develop web services that expose regulatory data to external systems, and own the DevOps discipline around reliability and observability. It is a hybrid position.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run ETL/ELT pipelines and batch or serverless jobs that ingest data from payments systems, marketplaces and SaaS tools.
• Build event-driven integrations using messaging, queueing and containerized workloads, and change-data-capture pipelines that replicate database changes in near real time.
• Manage cloud data warehouse and database infrastructure and orchestration tools, keeping them scalable and reliable.
• Work with the BI team to deliver performant data models and datasets, and build APIs that expose validated datasets, including for regulatory reporting.
• Add data validation and transformation layers so regulatory data meets compliance and audit standards.
• Monitor pipeline performance and data quality, and prepare datasets for ML and AI workloads, including exploring LLM-based data discovery and metadata generation.

Required profile

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of combined software development and data engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on data platforms.
• Experience with large-scale data processing, data warehousing and backend systems for analytics and reporting.
• System design skills: able to propose an architecture and articulate trade-offs.
• Familiarity with AWS services and event-driven data architectures.
• Experience in fintech, payments or financial systems is a plus; Java or other compiled languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Linux, Python, Bash scripting and strong SQL.
• Backend services, APIs and event-driven architectures (Lambda, SNS, SQS, messaging patterns).
• Cloud infrastructure basics: VPCs, security groups, IAM, DNS, infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Docker and ECS or similar container orchestration.
• Stack: Redshift, PySpark, Python, Java, MariaDB, MongoDB, Glue, Lambda, ECS, SNS, SQS, Debezium, Docker, Terraform, Iceberg, Metabase.
