Back-End Engineer – Maritime & Logistics

About the role

We are looking for a Back‑End Engineer to join Kpler’s Maritime & Logistics division. You will design, build and operate the core systems that power our maritime distribution channels, including APIs, Snowflake data stores and real‑time Kafka streams.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end backend services, streaming applications, APIs and data pipelines from design through production operation.
• Develop and evolve real‑time stream processing applications using Java, Scala, Apache Kafka Streams or Apache Flink.
• Design, build and maintain scalable APIs with TypeScript, Java and PHP for internal and external consumers.
• Integrate data pipelines that consume Kafka topics and persist data into Snowflake.
• Monitor system health, throughput, consumer lag and error rates to ensure reliable data delivery.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Conduct code reviews, reduce technical debt and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional experience building and maintaining backend micro‑services and APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with production data pipelines or stream‑processing applications.
• Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot production systems.
