Senior Software Engineer in Test

About the role

Agile Actors is a tech company that augments and empowers technical teams for international and Greek clients, and is certified as a Great Place to Work 2026. This Senior Software Engineer in Test position is based in Athens within the SET (Software Engineering in Test) chapter, a community of SETs and DevOps professionals. The role works closely with Product Owners, developers, QAs and DevOps engineers, and its exact responsibilities depend on the candidate's seniority, account and team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain automated test suites to verify requirements and software functionality.
• Develop, execute and manage test frameworks using functional and non-functional test tools.
• Analyse tickets, requirements and specifications to create test plans and automated tests based on acceptance criteria.
• Maintain test tools, utilities and frameworks, and support deployment and debugging of test environments.
• Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines for build, test and deployment.
• Conduct code reviews and set up scalable test automation frameworks across projects.
• Promote a quality mindset and shift-left testing across the development team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test, Software Developer or DevOps Engineer.
• Ability to code in at least one of Groovy, Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript or C#.
• Experience with automation frameworks (Spock, Cucumber, Jest, TestNG, xUnit, etc.), API testing (RestAssured, Supertest, Postman) and UI automation (Cypress, Webdriver.io, Playwright, Selenium).
• Understanding of the testing pyramid, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), and architectures such as microservices, monoliths and event-driven systems.
• Excellent written and spoken English and teamwork skills.

• Databases (RDBMS, NoSQL), Linux, and IaC tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform).
• Performance testing (K6, Gatling) and contract testing (Pact, Spring Contract).
