Senior Security Engineer - Freelance

About the role

Netcompany, a European digitalisation company serving EU institutions and public and private organisations, is hiring a Senior Security Engineer on a freelance basis. The engineer designs, implements and maintains cybersecurity solutions that protect government systems and critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and improve cybersecurity solutions for government systems and critical infrastructure
• Integrate and configure security controls in line with organisational policies, EU regulations and public sector standards
• Monitor, evaluate and investigate security events, including SIEM tooling such as Splunk
• Remediate vulnerabilities and incidents, including patching, hardening and certificate and cryptographic asset management
• Ensure security of on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments, including high-availability infrastructures
• Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies aligned with GRC frameworks
• Develop scripts, tools and automation for monitoring, detection and response
• Produce technical documentation, risk assessments and audit reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal teams, external providers and public sector bodies

Required profile

• University degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security or secure systems engineering in complex environments
• Experience securing large-scale environments such as data centres, government systems and cloud and hybrid infrastructures
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an advantage

• Network security: next-gen firewalls, IPSec, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, routers and switches
• Linux/Unix, system hardening and secure configuration
• Secure SDLC, scripting and automation
