Lead AI Engineer - GenAI & LLM

About the role

Netcompany, a digitalisation consultancy with over 8,900 professionals across Europe, is hiring a Lead AI Engineer in Athens for its Enterprise Solutions. This is a client-facing leadership role: you will own end-to-end delivery of GenAI, LLM and machine learning (ML) solutions for enterprise clients and lead a team of AI and ML engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary AI and ML advisor to key enterprise clients, turning their business challenges into AI and ML solutions.
• Lead and grow a team of AI/ML engineers, mentor team members and create individual development plans.
• Collaborate with MLOps and DevOps specialists to design, develop and optimise ML and GenAI architectures for client use cases.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across concurrent projects, including steering committees, progress reporting and escalations.
• Architect and oversee end-to-end ML and GenAI pipelines for client transformation projects.
• Lead client workshops, discovery sessions and technical presentations, and present to C-level executives.
• Execute the GenAI, LLM and ML strategy across people, technology, methodologies, platforms and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in AI, data science, machine learning, computer science, engineering or operational research; PhD in operational research preferred.
• 6+ years of AI/ML engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a people management or practice leadership role.
• Proven track record delivering AI projects from conception to production in enterprise or consulting settings.
• Experience managing client relationships, leading workshops and presenting to non-technical senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading and developing teams, including hiring and performance management.

Required skills

• Machine learning and GenAI, including open source frameworks, RAG architectures, prompt engineering and LLM models (Claude, GPT, Gemini).
• MLOps, AI model lifecycle management and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Agentic AI technologies and hands-on experience with LLMs such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and the Nvidia AI stack.
• Nice to have: consulting, systems integration or pre-sales experience; AIOps, LLM monitoring and AI governance; LlamaIndex, LangGraph and AI evaluation tools.
