Head of Accounting – Athens

About the role

The Head of Accounting will lead the accounting function across two legal entities in Greece, acting as the primary contact for local accounting matters. You will work closely with Global Business Services (GBS) and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting in line with Greek GAAP and IFRS.

Key responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly and year‑end close processes, preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements, including MyDATA submissions.
• Coordinate with GBS on contract postings, external audits and internal control standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop the local accounting team.
• Support the CFO with ad‑hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Class A Licensed Accountant with 8‑10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP and IFRS.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP ERP (including SAP Business Objects).
• Experience using digital reporting tools such as MyDATA/e‑books.
• Background in manufacturing, industrial or FMCG environments is preferred.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CA) is a strong advantage.
