Export Control Specialist – Trade Compliance

About the role

The Export Control Specialist will set up, oversee and maintain the end‑to‑end export control, import/export operations, customs clearance and global trade compliance framework for our Greek entity in Thessaloniki, working closely with the Export Control Lead in Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end import/export processes, customs declarations, tariff classifications and duty management for goods and defense technology.
• Design, implement and maintain the Internal Compliance Program for the Greek entity, aligning with German operations and Greek legislation.
• Classify technologies and obtain required export, import and transit licences from Greek authorities, coordinating with the German team.
• Partner with logistics carriers and freight forwarders to ensure secure, compliant international transport of military, dual‑use and commercial components.
• Collaborate daily with the German Export Control Lead to ensure seamless cross‑border transfers and global compliance alignment.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in trade compliance, export/import management, customs clearance or international trade law within a high‑tech, regulated industry.
• Background in Law, International Trade Law, Logistics/Supply Chain or related field (preferred).
• Business‑fluent English and Greek with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with a proactive, solution‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Greek customs procedures, EU Dual‑Use Regulations and defense export frameworks.
• Familiarity with EU/US trade controls (EAR/ITAR) and licensing processes.
• Understanding of international transport, freight forwarding operations and Incoterms.
• Capability to interpret technical specifications to determine correct tariff codes.
