Early Years / Nursery / Kindergarten Assistant

About the role

The Early Years/Nursery/Kindergarten/Pre‑school Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This role involves assisting with classroom management, preparing instructional materials, and promoting positive social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in delivering daily lesson plans and educational activities aligned with the preschool curriculum.
• Supervise children during classroom work, playtime, meals, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and positive behaviour.
• Reinforce classroom rules and help guide children in developing appropriate social and emotional skills.
• Set up and organise learning materials, resources, and displays to support hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard‑free classroom environment, including sanitising toys and equipment.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for children needing extra assistance or emotional guidance.
• Observe children’s development and communicate notable progress or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Assist with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals, and rest time, fostering independence.
