Software Engineer

About the role

ACI is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Athens team and help power the global payments ecosystem. You will work on both backend and full‑stack solutions, collaborating with a diverse group of engineers to deliver high‑quality software.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deliver backend and full‑stack software components using Java and the Spring Framework.
• Create, review and maintain technical artefacts such as API specifications, data models and UI components.
• Investigate and resolve customer‑reported issues across services, APIs, databases and user interfaces.
• Maintain a solid understanding of application architecture, services/APIs, relational database design and supporting infrastructure.
• Manage software dependencies and build tooling (e.g., Maven, Gradle, npm) to ensure robust and maintainable solutions.
• Apply sound technical and business judgment when addressing product requirements and design trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience with Java and the Spring Framework.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Kotlin or Groovy is a plus.
• Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks; React experience is preferred.
• Ability to work primarily on a PC with occasional domestic or international travel.
