Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Platform Reliability

About the role

As part of the Platform Engineering department, the SRE team is designing, building, scaling and maturing the multi‑cloud platform for hosting internal and external services such as Elastic Cloud Hosted and Serverless. We develop and extend new software and tools that support the rest of the infrastructure, enabling rapid deployment of products across Elastic.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives to automate system‑engineering efforts and guarantee reliability of the global Elastic infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain software, tooling and automations to grow the global platform and meet scaling demands.
• Champion a collaborative, operational‑excellence focused environment and uplift team members.
• Respond to and prevent recurring customer impact through major incident response and prioritized problem management, participating in a follow‑the‑sun on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Proven experience with a “progress not perfection” mindset and a customer‑first approach to platform reliability.
• Software‑engineering background with ability to work with engineers on solution design; experience with public cloud and managed Kubernetes services is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for inclusive collaboration in distributed or remote teams.

Required skills

• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
• Kubernetes at scale across multiple cloud providers.
• Programming in Golang or other languages.
• Containerization with Docker.
• Monitoring and alerting with Elastic Stack, Graphite, Prometheus or Influx.
• Linux system administration on distributed systems.
• Experience with the Elastic Stack for diagnostics and solutions.
