Senior HVAC Design Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking a Senior HVAC Design Engineer to join its Design team in Athens. You will be responsible for delivering HVAC and MEP engineering solutions for power plants, industrial facilities and data‑center projects, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and develop HVAC/MEP conceptual, basic and detailed designs for power plants, industrial and data‑center facilities.
• Prepare and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), system & functional descriptions, control diagrams and General Arrangement drawings.
• Draft and assess technical specifications and datasheets for HVAC/MEP equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors for system integration and with the Electrical department for proper feed sizing and MCC panel integration.
• Participate in design review meetings and provide installation input to the procurement team.
• Evaluate supplier proposals, support FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
• Assist construction teams and subcontractors, and be ready to support on‑site activities, including temporary relocation to commissioning sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC/MEP design for industrial or power‑generation projects.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), control systems and hazardous‑area classifications.
• Critical thinking, troubleshooting ability and effective time‑management.
• Leadership skills with the capacity to guide junior engineers.
