Medical Assistant – Gastroenterology

About the role

The Medical Assistant at United Digestive supports physicians and the practice manager in delivering high‑quality gastroenterology care. The role blends clinical, clerical, and organizational tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily schedule, organize patient flow for office visits and in‑office procedures.
• Accompany patients to exam rooms, collect histories, perform delegated physical assessments, and triage calls.
• Schedule tests, procedures, and obtain results; communicate findings to physicians and patients.
• Assist physicians with ancillary and specialty procedures.
• Maintain and prepare electronic medical records (EMR), scan forms, and ensure charts are complete before visits.
• Enter prescription refill requests and keep sample medications up to date.
• Maintain exam room cleanliness, sterilization, and infection‑control supplies.
• Respond to patient emails, voicemails, and calls promptly.
• Support other staff requests to facilitate timely billing and payment.
• Uphold HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Required profile

• Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (or equivalent experience).
• 2–3 years of clinical experience, preferably in gastroenterology.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and professional demeanor.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using EMR systems.
• Computer literacy for operating multiple healthcare software platforms.
