Mechanical Engineer – Structural Design & Optimization

About the role

Tesla's motor design team in Athens is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead structural design, mechanical optimization, and production documentation for electric motor projects. The role combines hands‑on engineering with advanced simulation and data‑driven decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Design structural and mechanical components and systems for motor assemblies.
• Perform structural analysis, load calculations and design optimization using simulation tools.
• Create detailed production drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation in Catia, Siemens NX and Solidworks, applying tolerances and GD&T.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards while recommending improvements for strength, weight, cost and manufacturability.
• Develop MATLAB functions for structural modeling, simulation and multi‑objective optimization.
• Conduct coupled structural, mechanical and tolerance‑stack‑up analyses.
• Process large datasets, select optimal design alternatives and visualize results for stakeholder review.

Required profile

• Fluent English and a Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Strong background in mathematics, physics and mechanics of materials.
• Solid understanding of structural analysis, load calculations and machine design.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for engineering calculations.
• Experience creating engineering drawings, applying GD&T and preparing production documentation.
