IT Support Engineer

About the role

MTIS is seeking an IT Support Engineer to provide first‑line technical assistance to its maritime ICT clients. You will handle support requests via phone, email and occasional on‑site visits, ensuring smooth operation of hardware and software systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain servers and user hardware operating systems.
• Maintain open‑source Linux‑based environments.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to respond quickly to incidents and outages.
• Manage the ticketing system, track issues and document resolutions.
• Document process flows in industry‑standard formats.
• Assist the sales department by liaising with warehouses, agents and customers.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the line manager, including journal entry processing.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant IT experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally if required.

Required skills

• Linux system administration (open‑source distributions).
• SSH for remote access.
• System performance monitoring (CPU, memory, disk usage).
• Log analysis using journalctl and /var/log.
• Linux networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, routing, ports).
• Virtualization platforms such as Proxmox VE, KVM or VMware.
• Storage concepts including RAID, ZFS, EXT4, NFS and iSCSI.
• Remote access tools like AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
