Industrial Automation Engineer

About the role

HERACLES Group, a leading Greek building materials company and member of Holcim, is looking for an Industrial Automation Engineer for its Cement Plant in Milaki. The engineer ensures the optimal performance, reliability and continuous improvement of the plant's automation systems, overseeing PLCs, SCADA, DCS and other automated control systems to support production efficiency, safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and optimize industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMIs, instrumentation and industrial networks.
• Develop, modify, test and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI configurations and SCADA applications according to company standards and software guidelines.
• Coordinate and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of automation systems.
• Design and implement automation projects and upgrades.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as operating manuals, software backups, electrical drawings and functional descriptions.
• Analyze process data to find ways to improve efficiency, reliability and performance.
• Work with production, maintenance and engineering teams on technical issues and improvements.
• Take part in plant shutdowns, commissioning, wiring and start-up activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation within manufacturing, cement, energy or similar heavy industries.
• Good knowledge of English; familiarity with instrumentation and control systems.
• Problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, teamwork, proactivity and a safety-first mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
• Completed military service where applicable.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of PLC programming.
• SCADA/DCS systems and industrial communication protocols.
• ABB 800xA experience is desirable.
