Head Pastry Chef (Michelin Background)

About the role

Domes Resorts is hiring a Head Pastry Chef with a Michelin background for its MAKRIS Athens restaurant in Thissio, Athens. The restaurant is a degustation venue led by Michelin-starred Chef Patron Petros Dimas and a team of culinary experts, serving Greek creative cuisine. The Head Pastry Chef leads the pastry team, performs baking and decorating tasks personally and keeps quality and consistency across all areas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the pastry team in preparing quality, consistent pastries for all areas, while doing the work yourself
• Improve guest and employee satisfaction while keeping within the operating budget
• Develop and train the team to raise results while maintaining standards
• Ensure sanitation and food safety standards are met
• Work as part of a busy kitchen team and undertake training and development with the Michelin-starred Chef Patron
• Run the pastry section to a high standard, including maintaining fridges and other storage areas and recording temperatures
• Cook and plate food according to agreed recipes and mise en place standards
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and correctly
• Set up and break down workstations, wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives and equipment
• Follow current local Covid-19 guidelines

Required profile

• Useful to have: degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major
• 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage or a related field (hospitality 5-star resorts preferred)
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
• Attention to detail, strong leadership and hands-on, proactive approach
