Director, Global Sustainability

About the role

Join Bain’s Global Sustainability team as a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the firm’s sustainability strategy. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer, you will collaborate with senior leaders across multiple functions to ensure credible, transparent, and impactful sustainability reporting and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global sustainability reporting and disclosure program across voluntary frameworks, regulatory requirements, client obligations, and stakeholder expectations.
• Oversee preparation and delivery of annual disclosures such as GRI, WEF, TCFD, UN Global Compact, EcoVadis, CDP Climate and Water, and WBCSD criteria.
• Direct the materiality assessment process, strengthening governance, controls, documentation, and assurance readiness.
• Manage client sustainability reporting requirements, including carbon footprint disclosures, supplier assessments, and RFP responses.
• Monitor emerging sustainability regulations and standards, partnering with Legal and functional teams to assess implications.
• Shape Bain’s sustainability narrative through reports, public disclosures, executive communications, website content, and client‑facing materials.
• Support engagement with sustainability networks, reporting organisations, industry bodies, and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, or related fields.
• Strong ability to work with senior executives across legal, risk, procurement, real estate, HR, technology, and communications.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a track record of translating complex regulatory landscapes into actionable plans.
• Outstanding communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Expertise in GRI, TCFD, UN Global Compact, EcoVadis, CDP Climate and Water reporting frameworks.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 certification requirements.
• Experience with materiality assessments and ESG governance.
