Chief Accountant

About the role

Trade Estates REIC, a leading real‑estate investment company listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, is expanding its finance function. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Chief Accountant will safeguard the integrity of financial reporting, ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations, and drive continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Accounting Department, providing direction, support and professional development to team members.
• Maintain accurate general‑ledger accounts, review entries and oversee account reconciliations for receivables, payables, fixed assets, customers and suppliers.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and prepare statutory and consolidated financial statements in accordance with Greek Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Prepare and submit corporate income tax returns, VAT filings, withholding tax calculations and other regulatory submissions.
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors and consultants, managing audit planning and execution.
• Evaluate, enhance and implement accounting policies, internal controls and ERP optimisation initiatives, particularly within Microsoft Business Central.
• Support the CFO on investment transactions, acquisitions, restructurings and tax‑efficient structuring of newly acquired entities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in accounting and finance, including managerial responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Greek Accounting Standards, IFRS and corporate tax regulations.
• Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing complex audit processes.
