Welding Engineer

About the role

Sunlight Group Energy Storage Systems is seeking a Welding Engineer to join its Xanthi, Greece site. The role supports both lithium‑ion and lead‑acid battery lines, ensuring welding activities meet quality, safety and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate welding activities across the plant in line with ISO 1731.
• Develop, validate and optimise manual and automated welding processes.
• Create welding parameters, recipes and re‑program robotic welding cells for product and line changes.
• Specify, commission, and perform FAT/SAT on new welding equipment and production lines.
• Troubleshoot weld defects, conduct root‑cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Apply destructive and non‑destructive testing methods to assess weld quality.
• Participate in design reviews, evaluate weldability and optimise joint designs, fixtures and welding sequences.
• Drive value‑engineering and continuous‑improvement initiatives while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in welding for industrial or battery applications.
• Proven ability to work closely with product development, engineering and production teams.
• Strong analytical skills for defect analysis and process optimisation.
• Excellent communication skills to provide technical guidance and training.
