R&D Engineer - Injection Mold Designer

About the role

Sunlight Technosystems is seeking an R&D Engineer specialized in injection mold design to join its R&D department in Pedino Kilkis, Greece. The successful candidate will create and develop injection molding tools for new products, ensuring technical accuracy and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design plastic injection molds according to project specifications and production requirements.
• Develop 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials for injection molds.
• Select appropriate standardized mold components and construction materials.
• Collaborate with external mold manufacturers throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Monitor mold trials, evaluate results, and propose technical improvements.
• Provide technical support to Production for mold‑related issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation such as drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and reports.
• Work closely with Production, Quality Control, Procurement, and Maintenance to optimise mold performance and reliability.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in plastic injection mold design.
• Strong understanding of injection molding technology and Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Ability to read and prepare technical drawings according to international standards.

Required skills

• 3D CAD design software (Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent).
• VISI (advantage).
• Moldex3D (advantage).
• Knowledge of mold manufacturing and machining processes.
• Familiarity with standardized mold components.
• Creation of Bills of Materials and technical documentation.
