Purchasing Officer

About the role

Venergy Marine Management Ltd. is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support the Technical/Purchasing Manager in managing procurement activities for its fleet of eco‑tanker vessels. The role ensures timely, cost‑effective, and compliant supply of goods and services to support vessel operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day procurement and ensure efficient supply of goods and services to the fleet.
• Receive, process, and prioritize purchasing requests from vessels and internal departments.
• Obtain, compare and evaluate supplier quotations based on price, quality, delivery time and technical requirements.
• Prepare, issue and follow up purchase orders through delivery, addressing delays or discrepancies.
• Coordinate timely delivery of spares, stores, equipment and services to meet operational needs.
• Liaise with vessels and the Technical Department to clarify specifications and purchasing requirements.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases and related documentation.
• Assist in supplier evaluation, performance monitoring and invoice reconciliation.
• Support cost‑control initiatives and identify opportunities for purchasing efficiencies and savings.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and digitalisation of procurement processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the shipping sector.
• Very good command of written and spoken English.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Experience with Danaos and/or maritime procurement systems (advantage).
• Strong organisational, follow‑up and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness and ability to evaluate purchasing alternatives.
• High sense of responsibility and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
