Principal HW System Architect – SoC Design

About the role

Renesas Electronics is looking for a Principal HW System Architect to lead the definition of next‑generation connectivity SoCs. You will work closely with marketing, customers and standardisation bodies to translate requirements into innovative, low‑power, cost‑effective architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Translate customer and standards requirements into detailed SoC specifications.
• Define robust architectural plans targeting minimal power consumption, size and cost.
• Derive new concepts and select external IP blocks, managing vendor relationships.
• Assess feasibility of new product platforms and conduct performance simulations (bus, cache, etc.).
• Produce documentation such as objective specifications, datasheets, verification and production test plans.
• Monitor technology trends, perform competitive analysis and propose future‑oriented IP blocks.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience in system definition and concept engineering within the semiconductor industry.
• Proven track record as a system architect with strong digital design background.
• Deep knowledge of embedded SoC architectures, microcontrollers, DSP, RF and analog mixed‑signal design.
• Understanding of low‑power wireless protocols such as Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi.
• Familiarity with IC design, manufacturing processes and verification methodologies.
• Fluent English and ability to work autonomously while collaborating across teams.
