Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Automation

About the role

Tech Hive Labs is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development and commissioning of industrial automation solutions, including custom machinery and robotic systems. The role requires turning complex conceptual requirements into robust, manufacturable mechanical solutions in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical assemblies and components from concept through final documentation.
• Implement DFM/DFA principles to optimise designs for manufacturing and assembly.
• Create engineering drawings, detailed Bill of Materials and assembly instructions following GD&T standards.
• Collaborate with electrical and software teams to integrate sensors, actuators and control systems.
• Communicate with vendors, machine shops and fabrication partners to resolve production issues and ensure part quality.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial machinery or product design.
• Hands‑on involvement in physical assembly, debugging and shop‑floor testing.
• Proficiency with standard hand tools and measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).

Required skills

• DFM/DFA implementation.
• GD&T for engineering drawings.
• Power transmission, pneumatics and structural mechanics.
• Creation of Bills of Materials (BOM) and assembly instructions.
• Use of hand tools, calipers, micrometers and diagnostic tools.
