Plan Approval Engineer – Naval Architecture

About the role

Advanced Engineering Services is seeking a Plan Approval Engineer to join its newbuilding team in Piraeus. The role focuses on reviewing technical specifications, shipyard drawings and maker documents to protect shipowners’ interests during plan approval and design discussions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and compare technical specifications, shipyard drawings, calculations and maker documents across hull, machinery and ship systems.
• Identify design gaps and departures from contract specifications and propose corrective actions.
• Assess design choices for construction and operating costs and their impact on long‑term commercial value.
• Evaluate compatibility with charterer, terminal and future regulatory requirements.
• Request design changes, negotiate with shipyards and makers, and provide decision support to shipowners.

Required profile

• Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) and Greek.
• Willingness to learn and understand complex ship design processes.
