Linux Operations Engineer

About the role

Netcompany is looking for a Linux Operations Engineer to join its Athens office and work on international projects for Danish public and private sectors. You will be responsible for the reliability and performance of business‑critical Linux systems while collaborating with a high‑performing, multicultural team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor one or more critical Linux environments, ensuring proper backups and uptime.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and platform tuning.
• Participate in security, incident, problem and change management following ITIL practices.
• Support large‑scale technology transitions, including planning and execution of operational tasks.
• Use cloud tooling to monitor infrastructure and work with Kubernetes, managed containers, and related technologies.
• Build new environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps (Argo CD).
• Coach junior team members and report status to customers or project managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience as a Linux, Systems, SRE, DevOps or Operations Engineer.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Linux system administration.
• Kubernetes (on‑premise) and Azure services.
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
• Kafka basics.
• Scripting (Bash, Python or similar).
• Version control with Git and GitOps using Argo CD.
• Familiarity with ITIL incident and change management processes.
