Head Accountant (Chief Accountant / Accounting Supervisor)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Accountant to lead the accounting function for a leading medical equipment manufacturer. The role involves ensuring compliance with Greek accounting and tax regulations while providing accurate financial reporting and analysis to support management decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the accounting department.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing procedures.
• Prepare and review VAT declarations, tax obligations and MyData processes.
• Perform reconciliations of customers, suppliers and bank accounts.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements and statutory reporting.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor cash flow and support budgeting processes.
• Ensure compliance with Greek Accounting Standards and tax legislation.
• Provide financial reports and analysis to management.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, driving continuous improvement of processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting position.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Greek tax regulations and MyData requirements.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Good command of the English language.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
