Caregiver for Unaccompanied Migrant Children

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Caregiver to support unaccompanied migrant children residing in one of its five accommodation centres in Thessaloniki, Greece. The position is part of the Greece Programme (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021‑2027) and contributes to the project “Operation of K.F.A.A. Thessaloniki”. The role involves providing daily care, ensuring safety, and facilitating access to a range of services offered by IOM.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of the shelter, following guidance from the Shelter Coordinator and National Project Officer.
• Support the provision of basic needs such as meals, hygiene facilities, and safe sleeping arrangements for unaccompanied migrant children.
• Facilitate access to services including legal counselling, psychosocial support, medical assistance, Greek language learning programmes, and educational support.
• Help organise intercultural activities, work‑career guidance and other enrichment programmes for the children.
• Ensure a safe, respectful and inclusive environment within the centre and contribute to documentation and reporting as required.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in working with children, especially vulnerable or unaccompanied minors.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to IOM’s values of respect, inclusiveness and humanitarian assistance.
• Flexibility to work on‑site in a shelter setting in Greece.
