System Engineer – IT Officer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive System Engineer – IT Officer to support NAVARONE’s shore‑based infrastructure and onboard vessel IT systems. The role combines hands‑on technical support, system administration and on‑site vessel attendances in a dynamic maritime environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1–3 technical support to the shore office and vessels.
• Troubleshoot, configure and maintain Windows workstations/servers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Group Policy, Entra ID, networks, VPNs, firewalls, Wi‑Fi and onboard IT equipment.
• Perform vessel attendances for installations, upgrades, inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate vessel communication and connectivity with Masters, Chief Engineers, Superintendents and external service providers.
• Monitor IT systems, backups, antivirus/EDR and cybersecurity alerts.
• Maintain IT inventory, documentation and assist with fleet‑wide projects and system deployments.
• Follow cybersecurity, access‑control, backup and change‑management procedures and provide out‑of‑hours support when required.

Required profile

• 3–9 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, networking or Tier 1–3 support.
• Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, AD/Group Policy, Entra ID/Azure AD and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls).
• Experience with hardware/software troubleshooting, backups, endpoint protection and cybersecurity.
• Excellent documentation and incident‑management skills.
• English proficiency at C2 level.
• Ability to work independently, travel and attend vessels.
• Preferred: maritime IT experience, familiarity with VSAT, Starlink, satellite communications, vessel networks, VoIP, CCTV, access control, OT and virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox) and relevant certifications.
