Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Plant Projects

About the role

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Design team in Athens. You will contribute to the conceptual, basic and detailed design of power plants and industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and European standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and develop conceptual, basic and detailed designs for power plants.
• Analyse water‑steam cycle systems, heat & mass balances, water balances, PFDs, P&IDs and GA drawings.
• Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, condensers, cooling towers, pumps and fuel systems.
• Evaluate vendor offers, support hazard & risk studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL) and assist construction and commissioning teams.
• Participate in alignment meetings with architects, equipment vendors and other engineering partners.
• Lead acoustic studies and performance‑test planning, execution and verification.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in power, oil & gas or related sectors.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Familiarity with European directives and industrial standards (EN, ASME, API, HEI, ISO, BS).
