Mechanical Design Manager

About the role

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead the Process and New Energy Technology design team within its M Power Projects Division in Athens. You will coordinate design tasks, oversee hazard and risk analyses, and ensure technical integrity of deliverables across power and energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate in‑house and outsourced design tasks for Process and New Energy Technology projects.
• Lead execution of hazard and risk studies (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL assessment).
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for package plants and Distributed Control Systems.
• Review process and I&C design deliverables (control diagrams, datasheets, specifications, HAC drawings, etc.) for completeness and compliance.
• Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, operation & maintenance manuals, and functional test procedures.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and process optimisation during project execution.
• Lead, assign work, and evaluate performance of the design team.
• Collaborate closely with Electrical, I&C, Procurement, Commissioning, and Sales departments.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in the power industry EPC/O&M turn‑key energy projects (power and/or oil & gas).
• Excellent command of English; French or German is a plus.
• Proven experience in design and commissioning of thermal power plants.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as API, IEC, ANSI.
• Strong understanding of functional safety principles (e.g., IEC 61511).
