Assistant Laundry Manager (Shipboard)

About the role

The Assistant Laundry Manager supports the Laundry Master in overseeing the daily operations of the shipboard laundry facility. This position ensures that all linen, towels, uniforms and guest‑related laundry items are processed efficiently, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the crew working in the laundry department and coordinate daily workflow.
• Maintain inventory of bed linens, towels, tablecloths, napkins and uniforms for housekeeping, food & beverage and crew.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections, including dryer lint removal and temperature checks.
• Assist in setting formulas, cycles and soil‑type settings for various laundry loads.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance with the Facilities Manager and ensure timely repairs.
• Inspect finished products each cycle to verify quality standards.
• Handle guest‑related laundry concerns and ensure prompt resolution.
• Submit daily inspection reports to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.

Required profile

• Minimum two years experience as an Assistant Laundry Master or equivalent in a 4‑ or 5‑star hotel, cruise line or upscale hospitality environment.
• Strong technical proficiency with laundry equipment and supplies.
• Proven ability to lead, manage and direct a laundry crew.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and sound judgment for operational and guest issues.
