Senior Training Engineer

About the role

Hellas Gold, a subsidiary of Eldorado Gold Corporation, operates the Kassandra Mines in Northeast Halkidiki, Greece. It is recruiting a Senior Training Engineer for its premises in Chalkidiki; the post reports to the Senior Survey Engineer of the Technical Services department in Mavres Petres.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the technical training framework, standards, competency models and guidelines for training design and delivery.
• Develop, review and submit the annual training plan for the Kassandra Mines to the relevant authorities.
• Act as legal representative before the Mining Authorities.
• Lead, coach and evaluate Training Engineers, allocating responsibilities and supporting team development.
• Oversee the development and regular update of technical training programmes and materials, and approve critical and safety-related training programmes.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, HSE and other departments to identify operational training needs and competency gaps.
• Develop and maintain competency matrices and certification schemes, including operator certification.
• Monitor workforce competency levels and training effectiveness through defined KPIs, and participate in incident investigations to identify training gaps.
• Introduce best practices and continuous improvement in technical training, and support the adoption of digital learning and modern training methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
• 8-12 years of proven experience in mining or heavy industry, with 3-5 years in training, technical leadership or similar roles.
• Strong understanding of mining operations and technical training requirements.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design and curriculum development.
• Experience in training effectiveness evaluation and competency development.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning technologies.
• Strong technical judgment, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
