Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will join Intrum’s Head Office Accounting team in Athens, supporting high‑quality financial reporting, statutory compliance and financial analysis. Working closely with the Finance Center of Excellence, you will ensure the integrity of financial information and provide insights for decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with FinCoE to deliver accurate, timely accounting and financial reporting, identifying discrepancies promptly.
• Guide accounting treatment, validate outcomes and ensure alignment with internal guidelines.
• Support month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes for assigned entities.
• Contribute to statutory financial statements, annual reporting and tax reporting (indirect tax, payroll tax).
• Review supplier and customer invoice postings for correct account usage.
• Assist audit processes, respond to queries and facilitate execution.
• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Head of Accounting, Group Consolidation, Treasury, IT and other functions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Swedish GAAP, VAT and corporate income tax.
• Experience with financial reporting, control and consolidation across multiple geographies.
• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial data and propose solutions.
• Proven ability to work with auditors and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• WorkDay (ERP) or similar ERP system experience.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Microsoft Office competency.
