Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance

About the role

International Airport of Heraklion is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of airport mechanical systems, including HVAC, ventilation, pumps, and plumbing services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and maintain maintenance SOPs, work instructions and inputs to the Aerodrome Manual.
• Support operation and maintenance of airport mechanical systems such as HVAC, ventilation, pumps, and drainage.
• Plan, supervise and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Review mechanical design documents, as‑built drawings, O&M manuals and supplier documentation.
• Participate in ORAT activities, system trials, readiness inspections and defect reporting.
• Investigate mechanical failures, support root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).
• 4‑7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of large‑scale facilities or airport environments.
• Very good command of English and Greek, both oral and written.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with CMMS and preventive maintenance planning.
• Knowledge of asset handover, ORAT and commissioning support.
• Ability to develop and implement maintenance SOPs, inspection regimes and checklists.
• Technical expertise in HVAC, ventilation, pumps and plumbing/drainage systems.
