Java Web Developer

About the role

Interamerican is looking for a motivated Java Web Developer to join its front‑office insurance systems team. You will work in a fast‑paced, agile environment, creating and maintaining high‑quality web applications that support the company’s insurance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based web applications using frameworks such as JSP, JSF, Apache Struts, GWT or Apache Wicket.
• Write clean, readable code aligned with coding standards and supported by unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, assess system impacts and identify dependencies.
• Provide effort estimates for development tasks, considering complexity, risk and uncertainty.
• Propose and evaluate new technologies and tools to solve business challenges.
• Document code, create developer guidelines, and contribute to user documentation and training material.
• Maintain build scripts, prepare software releases and author deployment plans for IT Operations.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computing, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong programming and software design skills appropriate to a mid‑level engineer.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture.
• Good knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and basic Agile/Scrum practices.
• Analytical thinking, teamwork, and excellent English communication skills.
