Flotilla Skipper - Mediterranean Summer

About the role

Sunsail, part of Travelopia Group, runs sailing holidays and flotilla charters in the Mediterranean. It is recruiting flotilla skippers based in Greece and Croatia to work during the summer on full seasonal routes of one or two weeks. Full and high-season positions are open, and winter opportunities may follow successful summer placements. Skippers work with their lead boat team, from daily briefings to punch parties and regattas, and must be flexible to operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all clients throughout the flotilla
• Presentation and maintenance of yachts, including deck cleaning on turnaround days
• Greet clients, assist with boarding and give welcome briefs on safety and yacht systems
• Give a full first-day briefing to the flotilla and daily briefings on route, including weather and local information
• Mooring yachts securely each day and handling day-to-day repairs and breakdowns
• Check safety equipment regularly and control spare parts and equipment on the lead yacht
• Organise group meals, BBQs, competitions and punch parties, and coordinate flotilla regattas
• Write weekly reports, keep the lead boat clean and present, encourage teamwork and carry out any other duties advised by the Base Manager

Required profile

• RYA Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore with Commercial Endorsement and a valid ENG1/ML5 medical certificate, or equivalent
• Experience in a customer-facing environment
• Ability to work under pressure and make difficult decisions
• Sociable, positive personality and strong leadership and teamwork skills
