Duty Baggage Services Supervisor (Crete)

About the role

The International Airport of Heraklion, Crete S.A. is looking for a Duty Baggage Services Supervisor based in Crete. The role covers the operational readiness, activation and transition of the baggage handling system, including commissioning, testing, trials and go-live preparation, and ensures safe, efficient baggage operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the BHS operational readiness, activation and transition, including commissioning, testing, readiness reviews, operational trials and go-live preparations.
• Validate baggage processes, system interfaces and operational procedures.
• Develop, test and activate SOPs, contingency plans and manual fallback procedures, coordinating recovery actions when required.
• Take part in risk assessments and safety and security reviews, tracking and resolving identified hazards.
• Support baggage service standards, KPIs, reporting and escalation in line with the Airport Emergency Plan.
• Coordinate operational familiarization with airlines, ground handlers, security and other airport stakeholders.
• Monitor and verify BHS performance, baggage flows and operational constraints, and ensure compliance with safety procedures in baggage handling areas.
• Coordinate the immediate response to faults, disruptions, baggage delays, peak periods and irregular operations.
• Analyze KPIs, support occurrence investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or equivalent in engineering, aviation, logistics or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in a related field such as airport operations, baggage handling or logistics.
• Experience in a shift-based operational environment; previous supervisory or team-lead experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrable experience coordinating incidents, service disruptions or contingency operations.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written; knowledge of Greek strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Desirable: training or certification in airport operations, safety, incident management, aviation security or BHS systems.
• Desirable: experience in BHS commissioning, ORAT, integrated trials or airport opening.
• Ability to read operational and technical information from systems such as BHS supervisory controls, BRS, EDS, SCADA, AODB, BMS or CMMS.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
