Director of Engineering (Luxury Resort)

About the role

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino in Pylos, Greece, the Director of Engineering leads the resort’s engineering team, overseeing all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building systems. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will ensure operational excellence and guest comfort.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all technical systems.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations through regular inspections and audits.
• Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for outsourced maintenance, repairs and renovation projects.
• Monitor energy consumption, support sustainability initiatives and manage the engineering budget.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies to minimise downtime and guest inconvenience.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment logs and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with other departments on refurbishments, new installations and technical upgrades.
• Act as the legal representative for health and safety matters related to engineering operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing engineering operations in luxury hospitality or large‑scale facilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building maintenance systems.
• Excellent leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Sound understanding of safety, environmental and building regulations.
• Experience managing budgets and supplier relationships.
• Fluency in English; Greek is preferred.
• Degree or technical certification in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related field.
