Airport Duty Engineer

About the role

Fraport Greece operates, manages and upgrades 14 regional airports across Greece, and is recruiting an Airport Duty Engineer for Thessaloniki Airport. The role covers monitoring and maintaining the airport's electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, with a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the maintenance of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting, power distribution, fire detection, public announcement system, airfield lighting, water supply, sewage and WWTP.
• Perform standard equipment and facility inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations and corporate health and safety directives.
• Diagnose equipment and system problems and coordinate and plan preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work logs and materials used.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering staff, including contractors and vendors, to develop and implement maintenance programmes and schedules, and issue relevant work permits.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents and ensure work complies with safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• MSc or BS (AEI/TEI) in Electrical Engineering.
• At least five years of professional experience in a similar role.
• Holding electrical licence A 4th class (Α - τέταρτης τάξης).
• Fluency in English at a professional corporate level.
• Fulfilled military obligations, if applicable.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, including fire detection, suppression, airfield lighting, water supply, sewage and WWTP.
• Previous experience with airfield lighting systems and pavements is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for facilities and equipment.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Problem-solving, communication, teamwork, accuracy, organisation and customer service skills.
