Accountant – Finance & Accounting

About the role

Medochemie Hellas, the Greek affiliate of an international pharmaceutical company, is seeking a dynamic Accountant to join its Accounting Department in Athens. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing general accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial transaction recording.

Key responsibilities

• Update accounts payable, perform reconciliations and process transactions in accordance with established procedures.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies, support month‑end closing, and reconcile GL accounts with sub‑ledgers, intercompany balances, accruals, VAT and withholding taxes.
• Participate in financial audits, prepare required information and monitor compliance with My Data requirements.
• Manage fixed‑asset accounting, depreciation runs and cash‑flow forecast preparation.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, withholding taxes, Intrastat (VIES) and other tax‑related filings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum three years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP, tax legislation and local accounting standards.
• Experience with audit processes is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Familiarity with Accounting & Reporting ERP systems.
• Knowledge of PYLON/BIQ platforms.
