Sewing Atelier Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a Sewing Atelier Supervisor to lead the busy sewing workshop at Habibi.Works, a solidarity‑based makerspace near the Katsikas refugee camp in northern Greece. The supervisor ensures the space is safe, accessible and supportive for both experienced tailors and newcomers learning to use sewing machines and work with textiles.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the sewing atelier, ensuring machines are maintained and used correctly.
• Guide users on proper handling of equipment, safety procedures and workshop etiquette.
• Provide hands‑on training and mentorship to beginners in sewing, textile handling and basic tailoring.
• Organise workshop schedules, manage material inventories and coordinate with volunteers.
• Maintain a welcoming environment that promotes skill development and community interaction.

Required profile

• Experience working with sewing machines and textiles, preferably in a teaching or supervisory capacity.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups, including refugees, locals and volunteers.
• Commitment to the values of solidarity, mutual respect and social justice.
