Senior Banking & Finance Counsel – Loan Portfolio Specialist

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier commercial law firm in Athens, is seeking a senior Banking & Finance Counsel to lead a major mandate for a premier institutional client. The role focuses on acquiring and servicing both non‑performing and performing loan portfolios, offering an opportunity to step up from Senior Associate to Counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Structure, draft and negotiate complex loan portfolio acquisition transactions.
• Advise on legal frameworks for ongoing servicing and management of loans.
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for a leading institutional client.
• Mentor junior associates and manage deal teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Navigate Greek and EU banking regulations, central bank guidelines and servicing laws (e.g., Law 4354/2015).

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience in a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Proven track record in banking and finance law, specifically loan portfolios (NPLs/SPLs) and securitisations.
• Qualified lawyer admitted to the Greek Bar Association.
• Native Greek speaker with professional fluency in English (written and spoken).
