Senior Banking & Finance Counsel – Loan Portfolio Specialist

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier commercial law firm in Athens, is seeking a senior Banking & Finance Counsel to lead a high‑profile mandate involving the acquisition and servicing of loan portfolios. The role is ideal for an experienced lawyer ready to take ownership of complex transactions for a premier institutional client.

Key responsibilities

• Structure, draft and negotiate complex loan portfolio acquisition transactions.
• Provide legal advice on the ongoing servicing and management of both performing and non‑performing loans.
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for a leading institutional client.
• Mentor junior associates and oversee deal teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Navigate Greek and EU banking regulations, central bank guidelines, and relevant servicing laws (e.g., Law 4354/2015).

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience in a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Proven expertise in banking and finance law, specifically loan portfolios, NPLs/SPLs and securitisations.
• Qualified lawyer admitted to the Greek Bar Association.
• Native Greek speaker with professional fluency in English (written and spoken).
