Consultant General Surgeon – Surgical Oncology

About the role

Professor Vassos’s Surgical Oncology team at Athens Medical Center is seeking a qualified General Surgeon to join as a Consultant in Surgical Oncology. The role focuses on complex oncological cases, including sarcomas, melanoma and rare tumors, within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in general surgery and surgical oncology procedures, with emphasis on sarcomas, melanoma and rare tumors.
• Contribute to pre‑operative assessment, peri‑operative care and post‑operative follow‑up.
• Support daily clinical activities and collaborate with colleagues across relevant specialties.
• Take part in the team’s on‑call rotation.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical documentation.

Required profile

• Specialist qualification in General Surgery and a valid licence to practice medicine in Greece.
• Proficiency in Greek sufficient for effective communication with patients and clinical teams.
• Good command of English for communication with international patients.
• Professionalism, reliability and a collaborative approach.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
• Previous experience in surgical oncology, research involvement and scientific publications are advantageous.
