Java Web Developer – Front‑Office Insurance Systems

About the role

Interamerican, a member of the Achmea Group, is looking for a motivated Java Web Developer to design, develop and maintain front‑office insurance web applications. You will work in an agile, fast‑paced environment, applying modern Java technologies and ensuring high‑quality, test‑covered code.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based web applications for front‑office insurance systems using object‑oriented principles.
• Define technical specifications by analysing business requirements, breaking down problems and identifying system dependencies.
• Provide effort estimates for development tasks, considering complexity, risk and uncertainty.
• Identify and propose new technologies and tools to address business and technical challenges.
• Share knowledge within the team, create developer documentation and contribute to user guides.
• Maintain build scripts, prepare software releases and author deployment plans for test and production environments.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computing, Mathematics or Engineering.
• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong programming and software design skills appropriate to seniority level.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture.
• Working knowledge of web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Basic experience with Agile/Scrum ways of working.
• Analytical thinking, documentation experience and strong teamwork skills.
• Excellent command of the English language.
