Financial Controller

About the role

Signal, a group of companies operating in commercial shipping, technology and venture investment, is looking for a Financial Controller to join its small Group Finance team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will oversee financial reporting, internal controls and compliance across maritime, technology and investment entities.

Key responsibilities

• Review subsidiaries' financial statements for accuracy, compliance and alignment with group policies.
• Support external annual audits by coordinating with external auditors and internal accounting teams.
• Update and improve financial processes, design policies and internal controls.
• Monitor compliance with group policies across subsidiaries and periodically test control effectiveness.
• Prepare compliance certificates and submissions for banks and regulatory bodies; liaise with subsidiaries' accountants on financial, regulatory and compliance matters.
• Provide analysis and ad‑hoc support to the VP of Finance on cross‑functional projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• MSc in Accounting/Finance or a professional qualification (ACCA, ACA) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in audit, internal audit, accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a multinational or fast‑paced corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, internal controls and compliance requirements.
• Ability to communicate clearly with external accountants, auditors and internal stakeholders across regions.
